Mariana Depetris is an artist who focuses on printmaking techniques, many of which she learned from master printmakers in her native Argentina and Italy, as well as from an MFA from Georgia Southern University. Encaustic is ideal for “trapping” thin objects within layers of wax and making polished surfaces.Īll materials and equipment Included: pigments and encaustic colors, oil sticks, beeswax, encaustic medium, inks, paper, encaustic painting palettes, brushes, blades, boards, heat guns, and thermometers. Some of the processes involve adding materials such as collage, handmade paper, prints, drawing and photo techniques. Working with luscious, bright encaustic paints and oil sticks is a true artistic experience! The beeswax and Dammar resin used in encaustic techniques create transparencies and depth, encouraging exploration with the concept of layering and incisions.
